MEETAC sent 38 (thirty eight) traditional artisans from 8 (eight) districts of Manipur namely, Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul to National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad for orientation and training about marketing of Craft products from 15/10/2019 to 19/10/2019. The artisans travelled by air and were accompanied by 3 MEETAC officials namely, Shri M. Ronen Singh, Principal IT Professional; Shri Y. Momocha Singh, Junior IT Professional and Shri P. Vikram Singh, Senior Professional Designer.
Artisans were taken for campus tour of NID and exposed to new techniques, machines, tools and equipment. They visited the relevant crafts and loom sites with their respective expert designer/faculty of NID. They also toured Gandhi Ashram, Rajwadu (A Royal Gujarati traditional dinner), Ahmedabad Night heritage walk (Heritage site seeing of Ahmedabad), Shreyas Museum (Folk museum), Seva (an NGO), Adalaj (Step well) and National Handloom Market. Seminars were organized and presentations were made by NID faculties to expose the artisans to the national and international market. The artisans were welcomed by NID Ahmedabad. Cultural programmes were also organized.
