Projects Under Implementation:

1. Partnership with National Institute of Design (NID)
The first Project has been taken up with National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad (Gujarat) by engaging them as a Knowledge Partner since September, 2018. In the Phase-I of the Project, the NID has taken up the exercise of documenting the arts/crafts practiced in all Valley and Hill Districts of Manipur State, which has not been taken up so far. The exercise has been completed in December, 2018 and a documentation by NID in form of Coffee Table Book is likely soon. For the purpose of product diversification and development, the NID has started two Workshops for two Crafts namely Wood Craft and Loin Loom in Chandel and Kakching Districts of Manipur respectively, in February, 2019. In the Phase-II, the NID has taken up Workshops in all the Districts in coming months with their expert teams and faculties. The NID will also take up works of branding, package designing and product promotion. A Souvenir Development Workshop for artisans in 7 (seven) selected potential crafts will also be taken up with the help of NID by the end of August, 2019.

2. Partnership with CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC)
CIRC, New Delhi, a think tank, has been engaged as a Knowledge Partner for providing support in developing funding partners, marketing strategies including e-marketing platforms, PPP models and entrepreneurship development for developing the traditional craft sector of Manipur.

3. Partnership with DASSO, USA
DASSO is an international marketing company for bamboo-based products. MEETAC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DASSO, USA on 8th February, 2019 during World Bamboo Workshop, 2019 held at Imphal (Manipur). DASSO will support MEETAC in achieving its objective of developing market and creating economic opportunities for Traditional Artisans & Craftsmen of Manipur. DASSO will help in developing an effective “Global Marketing model” for marketing of Bamboo based handicraft products of Manipur produced by the Traditional Artisans & Craftsmen under the brand MEETAC. DASSO will also help in identifying and creating value chains for effective production and marketing of bamboo handicrafts. DASSO has also agreed to provide technical and international logistical support for sale of bamboo-based handicraft products of Manipur.
